La Terza Madre, The Mother of Tears: Ok, I know someone else's opinion on this, but I have to admit I liked it. Dario Argento did Suspiria, did Inferno, and then years and years later came back to the idea of the Three Mothers to finish the trilogy. This one was like he revisited Suspiria, which is an AMAZING film. It wasn't Suspiria, but it was still enjoyable even if some sections like the ending were super cheesey. His daughter, Asia Argento played Sarah Mandy, the main female character similar to Suzy Bannion's character, but was not as heroic, or straight-headed. I always felt like Suzy's character stayed on top of things, was quick to figure things out and make decisions. Sarah's character panicked too much and needed to rely on others to make it through. She trusted in people when I wasn't sure she should have, which you quickly found she shouldn't have. Argento touched much more on spiritual things and witchcraft in a different way here. Sarah was driven by the history of her mother being a great witch and her automatically gaining her powers to destroy the third mother. Suzy just common-sensely wanted to kill the second mother to end all the b.s. going on around her. This review is going no where. I just liked it and I would recommend seeing it if you could get your hands on it. Any Dario Argento movie is a good time spent to me, no matter how bad it may be because even if the story isn't so incredible, it's always enjoyable to see things from Argento's perspective and with his unique style.

Demons: Yeah, I had never seen this until last weekend and it was awesome. People being drawn to an inescapable theater by some guy with half a metal mask to watch a film. A scratch to the face from a mask on display at the entrance of the theater starts the whole thing with a Tina Turner look a like in shiny metal pants turning her into a zombie demon who starts attacking and infecting others in the theater. No one can find a way out of the theater to escape the zombie demons and they start barricading themselves in to avoid contact with the demons. On the outside, 4 punks are driving around the town literally snorting coke from a Coke can with a straw. At first I thought they were really crazy and actually snorting liquid Coca-Cola until they spill powder all over the car which leads them to get caught by the police. They run away from the police and find their way into the theater after getting caught. One zombie demon escaped the theater probably to wreak havoc on the rest of the town. All I remember is a helicopter crashed into the roof of part of the theater and the only two survivors, a teenage couple escape and kill the half metal masked man who tries to stop them... as they drive away the teenage girl turns into a zombie demon. Do the zombie demons destroy the earth? There is a sequel!

Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2: I couldn't even find it funny. It was just... why? Or it could be because Ryan literally watched Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie at least 4 times a week for months as background sound to working on Max/MSP patches and I got real sick of it. It's supposed to be hilarious, but I'm guessing that's only if you like something in particular and a bag of Doritos every night. It follows a similar formula to Texas Chainsaw Massacre except it's got a radio dj in daisy dukes who Leatherface falls in love with, sheriff "Lefty", Dennis Hopper, and Bo 'Chop Top' Sawyer who keeps scratching that nasty scabby scalp around a metal plate on his head with a metal coat hanger. Gimme Grotesque or the Sender over this any night. AHK!

The Warriors: Ching ching ching ching. Warriors, come out and play! Warriors, come out and plaaay! Warriors! Come out and playiyay! A gang called The Warriors are framed for killing a gang leader trying to unite all the gangs in the area. With other gangs gunning for them they must get back to the home turf of Coney Island... Alive. Leather vests, zombie baseball gang, I think they were running out of ideas to differentiate gang members. Wu-Tang...

Masters of Horror: Family: by John Landis. Harold is a seemingly peaceful neighbor in a quiet midwestern neighborhood, but underneath, he's completely lost it. Inside his home, Harold imagines his family members, watching tv, knitting, carrying on their daily routines, a daughter, a wife, a new found grandmother, soon a grandfather, and maybe a new teenage daughter. In reality they're the skeletons of the people he's been yanking off the street and has meticulously bathed until their all their flesh and muscles deteriorate. A husband and wife moves across the street, and Harold soon becomes fascinated with replacing his wife with a new one. But, there's a twist.

Ryan and I saw WALL·E tonight. It was amazing! More than I had even expected from the movie. It was a great moral story and they had done an incredible job on the emotions/physical gestures of robots, which were relied on heavily since there wasn't as much dialog. There were a lot of terrific parts to the movie throughout and a lot of people's hard work had gone into the movie.

I finally got to see George A. Romero's Diary of the Dead. And it was amazing. As you know I am a complete sucker for zombie movies and loved this one a lot. I absolutely loved the mute Amish man in the middle of nowhere in PA. I really wish he had lived a little longer because he was so badass. The story was great and the character development was excellent even though you really get to hate the main character Jason who was to be filming most of "the footage" up to his death and the end of the movie because he never ever helps anyone and instead just continues to capture the gore and his friends' unfortunate situations -- true journalism, but absolutely disgusting. Overall, I say this is a must see.

I am really excited about the release of WALL·E (Yes, sometimes I really love kids movies and this robot oh so reminds me of my very favorite Johnny Five from Short Circuit) and Batman: The Dark Knight. I have been awaiting the Dark Knight ever since Batman Begins. Batman Begins was incredible -- Christian Bale as Batman and the entire beginning story of Batman, Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox, and Gary Oldman as Detective Gordon all totally owned their roles perfectly. I have watched that movies several times again since the release and each time, like Die Hard, is just as interesting, heart moving, exciting, and action-packed.

24 Hour Party People: Worth watching. I enjoyed all the scenes on Ian Curtis and Joy Division especially.

Since I've been sick I've had way too much time to lie around watching a lot of crap in between sleeping. Now I wish I read or worked on something productive, but I guess when you're this sick you don't have much energy to do anything.

Alone in the Dark: Woohoo. Christian Slater playing a paranormal detective running around with Tara Reid playing some kind of archaeologist over some battle against evil beginning with some artifact Slater bought in some black market. Crazy Professor Hudgens performed experiments on orphaned children which were stolen from some nun 22 years ago which Slater's character was one of them. This nut job is all happy about some evil demons coming back to earth. Slater, Reid, and leader of the Government Paranormal Research Agency Bureau run around to battle against the evil creatures that were just superhuman humans. You can tell I was really not paying attention.

Cabin Fever: A bunch of teenagers go out in the woods planning to party and mess around. The idiot one of the group heads off with a beer and a shotgun and bumps into a local man infected with a disease. He says he'll get the man help, returns to the cabin, never does jack about it. The man attacks them later that night. One by one they contract the disease. Everyone dies.

Mortuary: A woman now a widow moves her kids out to some forsaken town to run a funeral home. The funeral home and property are in such horrible shape, but she still goes on to run the mortuary and funeral home. Business starts coming in, but some creepy black mossy crap keeps coming up to soak up the blood of the deceased she receives. Her son, a young teenager, takes a job at the local diner and makes two new friends who tell him about the family that used to inhabit the funeral home and property, including the boy Bobby F who apparently used to inhabit his bedroom. The myth is that Bobby F is still alive, lives in the graveyard, and comes out at night to feast on the living. Eventually the teenagers find out the black mossy stuff is a monster inhabiting the entire territory that turns everyone into zombies. Do they escape? The cheesey ending says no.

Children of the Corn: The Terminator lady and some guy are heading to Nebraska for the guy's chance at a medical internship when they run over a kid who seemed traumatized from something more than just the car hit. The man discovers a bloody suitcase in the cornfield where the kid came out from into the street. He decides to take the kid into a nearby town to report the murder when they begin to discover all the children in town are murderers.

Hallowed Ground: A young woman Liz's vehicle breaks down in some small town. She meets up with a journalist in the local diner who is interested in taking photos at the site where a murderer or preacher was said to have nailed several victims to crosses in the corn fields. The young woman walks away from the journalist for a moment only to discover when she comes back that the journalist had been nailed to the cross by the dummy scarecrow she had just hung to the cross. The scarecrow then attacks her. She runs into a police officer driving through the cornfield. He brings her back to town. Soon she discovers the whole town is mad and had been awaiting her arrival for a century to bring rebirth to the evil town's founding preacher.

The Plague (2006): This is a very slow moving movie. All children of a certain age span before 10 drop into a comatose state for 10 years on the entire planet. All children are born into a comatose state since. Everyone is devastated that this will be the end of the human race. Then one day 10 years later, they all awake and start murdering all the adults. It turns into a war for survival between the zombie children and adults.

I really really want to see Eastern Promises. I do absolutely love Cronenberg.

We bought the first season of the Masters of Horror TV series. I loved it. I want the 2nd season. I should review those...
